Tuttle <br /> <br />Visitor: <br /> <br />Wi II iam Veidt <br /> <br />The Mayor called the meeting to order at 2:00 p.m. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Returns from the City Officers' Election of Apri I 5,1966 <br />were canvassed. An error was found in returns from Precinct 12, <br />five fewer votes having been cast for Candidate Joe Butler than <br />had been announced in the unofficial returns Apri I 5. The correct- <br />ion ha~ing been made, Alderman Pool introduced a Resolution and <br />Order certifying the returns as submitted by Presiding Judges of <br />the Election, and moved its adoption. Alderman Damon seconded <br />the motion, which was unanimously approved. The Resolution and <br />Order is attached as a part of the Minutes. <br /> <br />Mayor Serur declared the duly elected Aldermen to be Mark H. <br />Whittenberg, Caesar A. Damon and Herman Korff. <br /> <br />The City Manager presented a letter and recommendation from <br />Tax Assessor-Collector George C. Reed, see attached with exhibit. <br />It was explained that a City employee had issued a tax certificate <br />in 1956, certifying that al I taxes had been paid on a certain piece <br />of property. This was later found to be in error. The matter was <br />discussed. Alderman Pool moved that the Tax Assessor-Col lector <br />be authorized to remove the delinquent taxes from the roll. Alder- <br />man Whittenberg seconded the motion, which passed by common consent. <br /> <br />The City Manager read aloud the proposed garbage contract with <br />Gary Job Corps Training Center. It was stated that officials had <br />indicated the proposal would be given approval by Texas Education- <br />al Foundation, Inc., after ratification by the City Council. <br />Alderman Pool moved the ratification of the garbage contract. <br />Alderman Whittenberg seconded the motion and on 1'01 I cal I, the <br />fol lowing vote was recorded: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Damon, Pool, Whittenberg <br />None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />Alderman Damon congratulated City Manager Wolff for bringing <br />to a satisfactory conclusion the long negotiations for a contract <br />for garbage collection at Gary Job Corps Center. <br /> <br />The meeting adjourned at 3:00 p.m. <br />
