170 SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, OCTOBER 3, 1966 Present: Mayor Ell is Serur I Aldermen: Caesar A. Damon Joe C. Froh Wi I I i am C. Poo I Mark H. Worrell Absent: Alderman Herman Korff Visitors: Mrs. Carolyn Chandler, Mrs. Jerri Veidt The Mayor called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. Mr. Serur stated the purpose of the meeting was to appoint a member to the Urban Renewal Agency to fi I J the vacancy created by the resignation of Thomas Colgin. The Mayor asked approval of his appointment of J.W. Hopson to the board. I Alderman Damon moved that the Counci I approve the appointment of J.W. Hopson to the Urban Renewal Agency (Local Public Agency). Alderman Whittenberg seconded the motion and on rol I cal" the following vote Was recorded: AYE: NAY: Damon, Froh, Pool, Whittenberg None The Mayor declared the motion carried. Alderman Froh said he felt the Counci lowed the Press a vote of appreciation for its excellent coverage and vigorous support of the bond issue election. The Mayor agreed they had done a "tremendous job", and added that everyone who had assisted in getting "the bond issue message" to the people, and in getting out the vote, had received letters of appreciation. Mr. Serur said he also felt "The People of San Marcos" deserved a vote of thanks for their overwhelming support at the polls. The Council expressed concern over the illness of Augustin Lucio, jr. who has served on the Urban Renewal Agency since its appointment four years ago. I The Counci I directed that a letter of sympathy be sent to Mr. Lucio, and a letter of appreciation to Mr. Colgin for his service on the Urban Renewal Agency.
