Worrell <br /> <br />Visitors: <br /> <br />Mrs. Jerri Veidt, Bradley Moody, <br />Bob Barton <br /> <br />The Mayor cal led the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Mr. Serur said the purpose of the meeting was to choose <br />an architectural firm from the three selected at an executive <br />session, November 17. The three firms to be considered now <br />were: Koetter, Tharp & Cowel I; Pierce & Pierce; and Noonan, <br />Kroeker & Rogers. The Mayor asked that personal ities not <br />enter into the choice, but, rather, that a firm be chosen <br />that could do the best job for the City. <br /> <br />" <br /> <br />A general discussion ensued. Alderman Pool suggested that <br />each should write down first, second and third choice and <br />let the selection be made in that way. It Was agreed that <br />all firms under consideration were wel I qualified for the <br />work. Alderman Whittenberg said, al I things being equal, <br />he would favor awarding a contract of any kind t~ a local <br />firm. Alderman Damon said he had given serious consider- <br />ation to the choice of an architectural firm. First, the <br />amount of work the firm was currently engaged in, which <br />would affect the time that could be given San Marcos; <br />second, the number of people on the staff. "All the firms <br />interviewed are good", Mr. Damon said. "My choice is Pierce <br />& Pierce, and I nominate that firm". Alderman Korff second- <br />ed the motion. After further discussion, the question being <br />cal led for, the fol lowing vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Damon, Froh, Korff, Pool, Whittenberg <br />None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />Alderman Froh opened for discussion the problem of the <br />diminished firemen's pension. He suggested that the City <br />sponsor a street dance as a benefit, to supplement the <br />,present p~nsion being paid by the State.
