I

I

I

;1',/

SAN MARCOS JAYCEES

P. O. BOX 266

SAN MARCOS, TEXAS 78666
January 17, 1967

Mr, Billy Wolf
City Manager
Ci ty Hall
San Marcos, Texas

Dear Mr, Wolf:

You may remember that Mr. Bill Cox referred a color city map
project to the Jaycees in October. We undertook this project
for potential revenue and as a community service project. The
primary objective was to furnish up-to-date colorful maps for
distribution by the Chamber to prospective residents, tourists,
new residents, and of course, persons now living in San Marcos.

Jaycees took turns accompanying the map company representative
to prospective ad subscribers almost every hour of each day
during a two week period. It looked as if our efforts would
net us about a $200.00 profit after having applied $195.00 on
the purchase of three thousand of the maps as a donation to
the Chamber. We felt that the initial three thousand
furnished by the company would be inadequate (of course we're
hoping that the Chamber will find these maps attractive enough
to reorder at $65 per thousand as the supply is exhausted).
You may remember that the street portion may be revised
periodically during a five year period,

Submission of the map for printing has been delayed by a
combination of holiday season and problems in obtaining color
prints of the library and hospital. Now that the map is ready
for mailing to the printers all of the bills are in and it
appears that we mUst bear the expense of about $30,00 in
photographer's fees and $60.00 for revision of the street portion,

Mr. Billy Windham who personally drove all areas of the city in
which there was a question of street layout or names was kind
enough to reduce his fee by the amount shown on the enclosed
statement.

Now, here's the part you've probably been anticipating: Due to
the circumstances involved we are writing both the Chamber of
Commerce and the city of San Marcos in the hope that they may
see enough value in this project for their respective interests
to offset this $60.00 expense,

: r
