<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />1- <br /> <br />, <br />/ .- <br /> <br />,~.- <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE PLACING <br />AND MAINTAINING OF TRAFFIC-CONTROL <br />DEVICES; REQUIRING ALL SUCH DEVICES <br />TO CONFORM TO STATE HIGHWAY DEPART- <br />MENT MANUAL AND SPECIFICATIONS OR <br />CITY COUNCIL RESOLUTION; PROVIDING <br />THAT ALL SUCH DEVICES SO CONFORMING <br />SHALL BE OFFICIAL; REQUIRING DRIVERS <br />OF ALL MOTOR VEHICLES TO OBEY SUCH <br />DEVICES WITH SPECIFIC EXCEPTIONS; <br />AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />Section 1. The Police Department of the City of San Marcos, <br />Texas, shall place and maintain traffic-control signs, signals <br />and devices for the purpose of regulating, guiding or warning <br />traffic at the following street intersections within the limits <br />of the City of San Marcos: (a) The intersection of North <br />Guadalupe Street and Colorado Street. (b) The intersection <br />of North Guadalupe Street and Hutchison Street. (c) The <br />intersection of North Guadalupe Street and Hopkins Street. <br />(d) The intersection of Guadalupe Street and San Antonio <br />Street. (e) The intersection of South Guadalupe Street and <br />Comal Street. (f) The intersection of Lyndon B. Johnson <br />Drive and San Antonio Street (two separate traffic-control <br />signs, signals and devices to be placed at this intersection). <br />(g) The intersection of North Lyndon B. Johnson Drive and <br />Hopkins Street. (h) The intersection of North Lyndon B. <br />Johnson Drive and Hutchison Street. (i) The intersection of <br />North Lyndon B. Johnson Drive and Colorado Street. (j) The <br />intersection of Edward Gary Street and Hopkins Street. (k) <br />The intersection of North Lyndon B. Johnson Drive and Roanoak <br />Street. (1) The intersection of RM 12 and Hutchison Street. <br />(m) The intersection of Lyndon B. Johnson Drive and Cheatham <br />Street. <br /> <br />Section 2. The Police Department of the City of San <br />Marcos, Texas, shall place and maintain a traffic-control <br />sign, signal and device for the purpose of regulating, guiding <br />or warning traffic and pedestrians on North Lyndon B. Johnson <br />Drive, approximately 200 feet North of the intersection of <br />North Lyndon B. Johnson Drive and Roanoak Street. <br /> <br />Section 3. All traffic-control signs, signals and devices <br />shall conform to the manual and specifications approved by the <br />State Highway Commission or resolution adopted by the City <br />Council of the City of San Marcos, and all such signs, signals <br />and devices shall, so far as practicable, be uniform as to <br />type and location throughout the City. All traffic-control <br />signs, signals and dev2ces so erected and not inconsistent <br />with the provisions of state law or this ordinance shall be <br />official traffic-control devices. <br /> <br />Section 4. The driver of any vehicle shall obey the <br />instructions of any official traffic-control device applicable <br />thereto placed in accordance with this ordinance, unless <br />otherwise directed by a police officer, subject to the excep- <br />tions granted to the driver of an authorized emergency vehicle <br />in another ordinance of the City of San Marcos heretofore <br />promulgated. <br /> <br />Section 5. The safety of the public in general being <br />endangered, due to the fact that the existing ordinances of <br />this municipality do not afford an adequate and comprehensive <br />regulation governing the erection of official traffic-control <br />signs, signals and devices, an emergency is apparent, requiring <br />
