Etheredge, <br />Bob Barton, Bi I I Cox <br /> <br />The Mayor cal led the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />The Minutes of the August 14, 1967 meet i ng were. approved as <br />presented, on motion of Councilman Damon and second of <br />Counci Iman Flores. <br /> <br />The Mayor opened a Public Hearing on the 1967-1968 Budget. <br /> <br />Or. Craddock enquired whether the Budget provided for all <br />the recommended pay raises. The City Manager replied in <br />the affirmative. Counci Iman Damon enquired if the Pol ice <br />Department were being incre~sed, as discussed in the Budget <br />Work Shop. Mr. Bean confirmed that three additi'onal men <br />would be employed in the police Dept. Councilman Flores en- <br />quired ~hetherthe pick-up includ~d in the Budget for Parks <br />and Grounds were an additional vehicle, or a replacement. <br />Mr. Bean sa i d it was to rep I ace a comp I etel y worn-out pick-up. <br />The ~ayor enquired about provision for purchase of 1000 ft. <br />of hose for the Fire Dept.' and was to I d it was to rep I ace worn- <br />out hose. Mr. Whittenberg commented on the fact that, with the <br />exception' of representatives of the Press, only one citizen had <br />been interested enough' in the City' s budg~t to attend the Hear i ng. <br />This is in contrast, he said, to the frequent questions about <br />"wher-e the money goes" fromcit i zens one meets on the street. <br />01'. Craddock asked Mr. Beani f it were a "workable budget". He <br />replied, "Yes, b'ut it will not increase City services." <br />Or.
