pr1'ft".'~. .. 1 TO: HONORABLE MAYOR ELLIS SERUR CITY COUNCIL CITY MANAGER RICHARD BEAN FROM: BILL COX RE: CTITZEN'S STUDY COMMITTEE I As chairman of the citizen's committee appointed to study the needs of the city in reference to a proposed city sales tax referendum, I make the follow- ing report: We met in a called working session, Monday, October 2, 1967, for the purpose of discussing the needs of the city. 17 of the 26 members were present; Following a brief report by the chairman on the basic needs of the city, a general discussion waS held and every member was given the opportunity to voice opinions and ask questions of the City Manager; A summary of the opinions and questions accompany this report for your consideration; We urge you to study this report for the benefit of all the citizens; Following a brief period of discussion a motion was made with a second requesting the city council to pass an ordinance calling for a city sales taxr8f~randum as soon as possible. (A copy of this motion is attached). The motion passed by a vote of 10 to 5, with the chairman and one other member not voting; I Following another brief period of discussion, a motion was made and seconded requesting the city council to publish the intent of usage of the funds in th~ event the sales tax referandum passes. This motion passed unanimously, and a copy is attached; The meeting was adjourned after 1 hour and 15 minutes.
