<br />pr1'ft".'~. .. <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR ELLIS SERUR <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY MANAGER RICHARD BEAN <br /> <br />FROM: BILL COX <br /> <br />RE: CTITZEN'S STUDY COMMITTEE <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />As chairman of the citizen's committee appointed to study the needs of the <br />city in reference to a proposed city sales tax referendum, I make the follow- <br />ing report: <br /> <br />We met in a called working session, Monday, October 2, 1967, <br />for the purpose of discussing the needs of the city. 17 of <br />the 26 members were present; <br /> <br />Following a brief report by the chairman on the basic needs <br />of the city, a general discussion waS held and every member <br />was given the opportunity to voice opinions and ask questions <br />of the City Manager; <br /> <br />A summary of the opinions and questions accompany this report <br />for your consideration; <br /> <br />We urge you to study this report for the benefit of all the <br />citizens; <br /> <br />Following a brief period of discussion a motion was made with <br />a second requesting the city council to pass an ordinance <br />calling for a city sales taxr8f~randum as soon as possible. <br />(A copy of this motion is attached). The motion passed by a <br />vote of 10 to 5, with the chairman and one other member not <br />voting; <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Following another brief period of discussion, a motion was made <br />and seconded requesting the city council to publish the intent <br />of usage of the funds in th~ event the sales tax referandum <br />passes.
