Dr. Craddock <br />suggested a third name, "Balcones", and moved that it <br />be included in the names-from which a final selection <br />would be made. Dr. Pool seconded the motion and on <br />rol I cal I, the fol lowing vote was recorded; <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Craddock, Damon, Korff, Pool, Serur <br />Flores <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />No other names being suggested, it was agreed by common <br />consent to vote by secret bal lot. "EI Molino" received <br />four votes; uMerriman", one; and "Balcones", one. The <br />Mayor announced that Project #2 of the GNRP would be <br />known officially as "EI Molino". <br /> <br />The Mayor read aloud a letter from Fr. Richard Trevi~o, <br />pastor of St, John's Church, petitioning the City to <br />dedicate streets permitting access to the site of the <br />proposed new church, from East Hopkins Street (RR 12). <br />The letter is attached and made a part of the Minutes. <br />A plat of the area was examined. Leonard Fielder, a <br />member of the Bui Iding Committee, exhibited an architect's <br />sketch of the proposed church. The matter was discussed. <br />Mr. Damon moved that the City comply with the request of <br />St. John's Parish, as proposed in the letter. Dr. Craddock <br />seconded the motion and on roll call, the following vote <br />was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY; <br /> <br />Craddock, Damon, Flores, Korff, Pool, Serur <br />None <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />The City Secretary said that Counci Iman Whittenberg had called <br />to say he could not attend because of illness, but wished to <br />register his approval of granting the request of St. John's <br />Parish. The Mayor said that would give unanimous approval <br />to the petition. <br /> <br />R.C. Van Gundy, Chairman of the Citizens Advisory Committee, <br />came before the Counci I with a plan to ~ase the heavy flow <br />of traffic in downtown San Marcos. A general discussion fol low- <br />ed, with study of the maps furn i shed by Mr. Van Gu ndy. I twas <br />brought out that Lockwood, Andrews & Newnam had presented a <br />thoroughfare p' an to.the Counc i I some months ago. Jim Brown <br />stated the .developmentof the C.M. Allen Blvd. would also affect <br />downtowntraff i c and the co II ege area. The Mayor thanked.. Mr. <br />Van Gundy and the Citizens Advisory Committee for.their interest, <br />and said the plan would be turned over to the City's engineers <br />for study. <br /> <br />The Counci I agreed by common consent to change the second <br />meeting of December from the 25th to the 19th. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The meeting adjourned at <br /> <br />8:05 p.m. c.' . .
