<br />:) <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING AN ORDINANCE APPROVED CN <br />THE 26TH DAY OF SEPTEMBER, 1966, ENTITLED; <br />uAN ORDINANCE DEFINING 'BICYCLE'; REQUIRING IN- <br />SPECTION; PROVIDING FOR AN ANNUAL LICENSE AND ITS <br />ISSUANCE; TRANSFER O~ LICENSE; ALTERING SERIAL <br />NUMBERS; ESTABLISHING A CHARGE; IMPOUNDING; PRO- <br />VIDING FOR A PENALTY; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; <br />ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATEu; AND DECLARING <br />AN EMERGENCY <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, THAT THE BICYCLE ORDINANCE BE AMENDED As ~OLLOWS: <br /> <br />I. Delete Section I I I. Add new Section II I; <br /> <br />SECTION III. License: It shall be unlawful for any <br />person to ride or use a bicycle within the City Limits <br />without having first obtained a license therefor as <br />hereinafter provided. <br /> <br />2. Delete Section IV. Add new Section IV: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />SECT I ON I V . I ssuance of License: The Tax Assessor- <br />Col lector is hereby authorized and empowered.~ to issue, <br />upon written application approved by the Chief"of Police <br />or his represenvative, a bicycle license to any person <br />operating a bicycle within the City Limits of the City of <br />San Marcos. The license so issued shall be valid for the <br />life of the bicycle. Such license, when issued, shall en- <br />title the licensee to operate the bicycle for which the <br />license was issued upon all the streets and public ways <br />as permitted by this Ordinance, or other ordinances as <br />may be applicable. <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />Delete Section <br /> <br />V. Add new Section V: <br /> <br />SECTION V. License: The Tax Asssessor-Collector shall <br />provide a suitable license, together with registration <br />certificate cards, serially numbered, beginning with <br />Number 100. The license shal I be firmly attached to the <br />rear of the bicycle in a location plainly visible. The <br />license. shal I remain attached to the bicycle during the <br />valid term of such license. <br /> <br />4. Delete Section VI I. Add new Section VI I: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />SECTION VII. Altering Numbers: It shall be unlawful <br />for any person, firm or corporation to destroy, remove, <br />muti late, or alter the serial number of any bicycle pur- <br />suant to this ordinance, or the number issued to the bi~ <br />cycle. This section shall not prohibit the Police Depart- <br />ment from assigning a number to any bicycle where the nmmb- <br />er has been muti lated or is illegible. <br /> <br />5. Delete Section VII I. Add new Section VI II: <br /> <br />SECTION VI I I. Establishing a Charge: An Administrative <br />Charge wi II be made for each bicycle license and registrat- <br />ion issued pursuant to this ordinance. Such administrative <br />charge shall be used to defray the cost of the license plate, <br />
