~egu1a~ meeting, may 27, 1968 page two

The City Manager introduced for consideration a
request from a group of five trailer campgrounds owners,
see letter attached. It was brought out by some Council-
men that since there are privately-owned trailer parks
operating in the San Marcos area, the City should not be
in the position of competing for business, by allowing
individual trailer-owners to use City Park facilities.
Dr. Craddock said the rates should be equalized, and
moved that the City charge $2.50 per night, except for
participants in rallies, already under reservation at the
present $1.50 rate. Councilman Dannelley seconded the
motion. which passed unanimously. The use of Park
facilities was discussed at length, with emphasis on
local citizens having priority. Mr. Flores moved that
park facilities not be rented, except to groups of 20 or
more trailers. Dr. Craddock seconded the motion and on
roll call, the following vote was recorded:

I

AYE:
NAY:

Craddock, Flores
Dannelley, Pool. Serur, Smith, Zavesky

The Mayor declared the motion defeated.

To further clarify response to the requests of the camp-
grounds owners, the Council agreed by common consent that
the proposed sign advertising privately-owned trailer parks
could not be placed at the entrance to City Park, and that
overnight camping would not be restricted.

The City Manager asked authorization for employment of
Ronald J. Wicker on a full-time basis. Dr. Craddock moved
that Mr. Wicker be employed as Purchasing Agent. Mr.
Dannelley seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

I

Mr. Bean reminded the Council that bids on Drainage Project
No.1 would be opened at 2:00 p.m. May 29, and recommended
that Councilmen attend, if possible.

~%L~

Councilman

The meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m~. /

~' ~_~ '= ~2-~"'---C----~
/() ./
. l';...,L,,,-L.~/ Ellis Serur, M~iYO~, _ ~
"k"M<-<-.u~''''''-------, WRJ2J2~ ~ ~-O~
Emmie Craddock, Ph.D. Wi):~~m C.I/'ool, Ph.D.
Councilwoman co~~lmij! .

~~o~},)~tr~oCUt ~t

Ronald J V-DannelleY~ / Hollis W.
