He said it had been estimated that $100,000 <br />was spent in Sa'n Marcos by "trailerites" during the Spring <br />rallies~ and that four club members had bought new cars here. <br />Dr. Craddock said she would like to propose again the motion <br />made by Mr. Flores, which had failed at a previous meeting: <br />"I move that the use of the trailer facilities at the Park <br />be limited to groups of not less that twenty trailers." <br />Mr. Flores seconded the motion and on roll call, the follow- <br />ing vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Craddock, Flores, Serur, Zavesky <br />Dannelley, Pool, Smith <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried by a vote of 4 to 3. <br /> <br />It was agreed by common consent that the City would erect <br />a sign at the entrance to the Park, stating that overnight <br />visitors could not use trailer facilities. <br />Dr. Craddock proposed th~t "if any person ignores the sign <br />and stays there, we will not order them out." The Council <br />gave common consen1:to the sugg'estion. <br /> <br />Th~ Mayor read aloud a letter from J.E. Younger, jr., <br />recommending the Council's approval of the rezoning of two <br />lots on Smith Lane, see letter attached~ A plat of the <br />property was examined. Dr. Pool moved approval of the re- <br />z6ning of Lots 6 & 7 of the J.P. Ellis Addition # 2, from <br />"R-l" (residential) to "D" (multi-family). Mr. Smith <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor referr~d to a l~tter from Lockwoodj Andrews & <br />Newnam, Inc. making a recommendation for awarding of the <br />contract for Dr~inageImprovement Project #1, see attached. <br />Councilman Dannelley m'oved that the contract for Drainage <br />Improvement Project #1 be awarded to the low bidder, <br />B6nnet Construction Company of Au~tin. Dr. Craddock second- <br />ed the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor reminded Council members thatW.C.. Carson could <br />not serve on the Board of Equaliiation~ On s~ggestion 6f <br />Mr. Serur, it was agreed that action on an appointment <br />would be tabled until a subsequent meeting. <br /> <br />The Mayor said the Chamber of Commerce had brought to the <br />attention of the Council the desirability of up-dating the <br />population figures on the City Limits signs in San Marcos. <br />Mr. Dahnelley moved that a Resolution he sent the Texas <br />State Highway Department, req~esting that the signs at <br />the City Limits of San Marcos be changed to the present <br />est~~at~dpopulation figure of 17,500. Mr. Zavesky <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Serur reported on the Annual Convention of the Texas <br />Municipal League which he and Councilman Dannelley had <br />attended inEl Paso the previous weekend. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The meeting adjourrled at 8:30 p.m. <br />
