If the City agreed to act as HsponsorH, it <br />would be responsible for custodial care, utilities and <br />replacement of furniture as needed. Cost of such serv- <br />ices was estimated at $5,000 a year. Tenants of the <br />housing project would have the use of the building <br />without charge. Tne City, as sponsor, couilid charge a <br />fee for use of the Community Space Building by other <br />persons. Mr. Freudiger announced he was applying for <br />a loan of $226,836.16 to modernize the existing 60 <br />public housing units. Councilman Smith moved that the <br />Council approve inclusion of the Community Space Build- <br />ing in the housing units plan, and agree to act as <br />sponsor. Dr. Craddock seconded the motion and on roll <br />call, the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Craddock, Dannelley, Flores, Pool, Smith, Zavesky <br />None <br /> <br />The Mayor Pro Tem declared the motion carried. <br /> <br />Dr. Pool thanked Mr. Freudiger for an excellent report. <br /> <br />The Mayor Pro Tem said the terms of Dr. Billy Hinton and <br />Mr. David Pool, members of the Planning & Zoning Commission, <br />would expire in October. Mr. Dannelley moved that Or. Hinton <br />and Mr. Pool be reappointed to the Plarining & Zoning Commiss- <br />1on. Mr. Smith seconded the motion, which passed unanimpusly. <br /> <br />Councilman Zavesky said it was embarrasing that the City does I <br />not have an air-conditioned car to use when distinguished <br />visitors come to San Marcos. Dr. Craddock moved that serious <br />consideration be giverito having all cars purchased in the <br />future equipped with air-conditioners. Mr. Dannelley second- <br />ed the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Councilman Smith moved that a letter of appreciation and <br />commendation be sent to Congressman Pickle, for all the <br />efforts made on beh~if of San Marcos. Mr. Zavesky seconded <br />the motion. Dr. Craddock questioned whether ~~ridirig a letter <br />just at this time might not be interpreted as an endorsement <br />of his candidacy. Mr. Flores said the same thing' had occurr- <br />ed to him. The lots were acquired by delinquent <br />tax sale. Mr. Zavesky moved that the City Mariage~ b~ a~th- <br />orized to secure an appraisal on two City-owned lots on <br />Eastwood and Loop 82, and to advertise for bids. Mr. Smith <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. . <br />
