I

I

I

special meeting, october 22, 1968

page three

-<

Because of conflicts, it was agreed by the Council to start
the October 28 meeting at 6;00 p.m., instead of the usual hour.

The City Secretary asked the Council for a clarification of the
policy on sale of lots in the Dixon Addition. of the City Cemetery.
She referred to the Minutes of Dec. 13, 1961 and explained that
when Perpetual Care was established by the City, "it was the
intention of the Council to provide spaces for burial at a reason-
able rate in a portion of the Cemetery which would not have
perpetual care and would be available for persons of modest in-
come to inter the dead." A Resolution embodying that intention
was passed. An excerpt from the Minutes of Dec. 13, 1961, and a
copy of the Resolution establishing Dixon Addition are attached
and made a part of these Minutes. Mrs. Worrell said an adminis-
trative policy was established at that time to sell lots in Dixon
Addition "on a rotation basis, without choice of location". This
had been interpreted by the owner of a local mortuary to mean
that only one space could be sold at a time. After discussion
of the matter, Dr. Craddock moved that the Council reaffirm the
Resolution passed by the Council on Dec. 13, 1961, which places
no limitation on the number of lots to be sold one person at a time.
Councilman Smith seconded the motion and on roll call, the follow-
ing vote was recorded:

AYE:
ABSTAIN;
NAY:

Craddock, Dannelley, 5erur, Smith, Zavesky
Flores
None

The Mayor declared the motion carried.

Councilman Dannelley recommeoded that parking on Ed J.L. Green
Drive be prohibited. The Council agreed by common consent that
"No Parking" signs should be placed on Ed J.L. Green Drive.

The Council adjourned at 5:45 p.m.

~~
1-- @.......... ~:::; SO"'

Emmie Craddock
Cou 'w,Qman

~~ v'\&~~_

Ronald J.
