I I I ) REGULAR MEETING Of THE CITY COUNCI L OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, OCTOBER 28, 1968 Present: Mayor Ellis Serur Councilmen: Emmie Craddock, Ph.D. Ronald J. Dannelley Luciano H. Flores William C. Pool, Ph.D. Hollis W. Smith Jerry Zavesky City Manager City Secretary Richard G. Bean Dorothy O. Worrell Visitors: Charlotte Crisp and Kenneth Cumpton The Mayor called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. The Minutes of the meetings of October 14 and 22, 1968, were approved as presented, on motion of Councilman Zavesky and second of Councilman Smith. The Mayor introduced W.H. Humphreys, Resident Project Engineer, U.S. Corps of Engineers, of Canyon Dam Reservoir. Mr. Humphreys had come at the invitation of the Council to discuss the procedure by which the City would accept the Corps' offer to take IDver the Potters Creek Area of Canyon Lake Park as a municipal recreation park. The discussion centered on the financial obligation in maintaining the area. Mr. Humphreys stated the Potters Creek Area is presently costing the Corps about $10,000 annually for cleaning, mowing and maintenance. He suggested San Marcos might make application for half the area, and, if it proved feasible, financially, the City could then make application for the remainde~ of Potters Creek Area. On motion of Dr. Craddock and second of Councilman Smith, it was agreed by common consent of the Council to take the matter under further consideration before making a decision. The Mayor thanked Mr. Humphreys for his concise information and advice. The Mayor appointed Dr. Pool, Mr. Zavesky and himself to serve on a committee to assist the Hays County Historical Survey Committee in securing a museum for San Marcos and Hays County. The Mayor read aloud a letter from J. E. Younger, j r., Chairman of the Planning & Zoning Commission, recommending that the Council approve a change of zoning on a lot located at 810 San Antonio Street. A plat of the area was examined. Dr. Pool moved that the zoning of Lot 8, Edward J.L, Green Addition, be changed from "R-1" (residential single family) to R-~ (duplex). Councilman Smith seconded the motion and on roll call, the following vote was recorded: AYE: NAY: Craddock, Dannelley, Flores, Pool, Serur, Smith, Zavesky None The Mayor declared the motion carried.
