<br />/ <br /> <br />~ <br />J <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ORDINANCE <br />WHICH REGULATES TRAFFIC UPON THE <br />PUBLIC STREETS AND HIGHWAY OF THE <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS, BY THE ADDITION <br />OF A NEW SECTION, TO BE DESIGNATED <br />SECTION 56.1, TO CONTROL THE CUTTING <br />OF CORNERS BY DRIVING A VEHICLE FROM <br />ONE STREET INTO ANOTHER ACROSS ANY <br />SIDEWALK OR DRIVEWAY WITHOUT STOPPING; <br />DECLARING AN EMERGENCY; AND PROVIDING FOR <br />LEGAL PUBLICATlON'HEREOF. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />I. <br /> <br />That the following section be added to the ordinance which <br /> <br />regulates traffic upon the public streets and highways of the City <br /> <br />of San Marcos, Texas, said ordinance having been passed, approved <br /> <br />and adopted on the 25th day of July, 1950, and further being set <br /> <br />out in Volume 11, pages 364-396, of the Minutes of the City Council <br /> <br />of the City of San Marcos: <br /> <br />'I <br /> <br />Section 56.1 Vehicles shall not be driven over any sidewalk area <br /> <br />or through any driveway, parking lot or business entrance at any <br /> <br />intersection, in making either a right or left turn, except for the <br /> <br />purpose of coming to a complete stop to obtain or render some service <br /> <br />or make a sale or purchase. It is the intention of this section to <br /> <br />prohibit corner cutting by driving a vehicle from one street into <br /> <br />another across or through any sidewalk or driveway without stopping. <br /> <br />II. <br /> <br />That except as hereby amended said ordinance of July 25, 1950, <br /> <br />shall otherwise remain unchanged. <br /> <br />III. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />The public welfare, health and safety being endangered due to <br /> <br />the fact that the present ordinance regulating traffic upon the <br /> <br />public streets and highways of the City of San Marcos does not pro- <br /> <br />hibit the driving of a vehicle from one street into another across <br /> <br />sidewalks or driveways without stopping; therefore, an emergency <br /> <br />exists, requiring that the provisions of the Charter of the City of <br /> <br />San Marcos which provide that ordinances be read on three several <br /> <br />-1- <br /> <br />c. <br /> <br />~'\ <br />
