<br />III <br /> <br />San Harcos Public Library is to participate in a project <br />instituted by Austin Public Library by David Earl lIoIt, Library <br />Director. 'The application was made through the State Library for <br />l'cCleral Funds under the Library Services ane. Construction l\ct. No <br />official action is necessary by our Board of Trustees or City <br />Council because l-fr. Folt and Nr. Tinstman, Austin City Hanager, <br />r:avc signed all the necessary papers. San l'.c:arcos v-ias selected as <br />one of three ci.ties to participate in the experiment. <br /> <br />';'he proj ect will attempt to reach library "non-users" by <br />placing collections of paperback books of the "mass-market" <br />type in selected self-service laundries. The books ~Jill be dis-- <br />played on racks a,nd labeled "San ~'arcos Public Library" and "free <br />loan" on the front of them. p_ label on the back will direct the <br />user to keep the book until through reading it and then return it <br />to the rack or to the library. The address and hours of the <br />library ",ill be included on the label. <br /> <br />The books will be placed in five laundromats ana 1S <br />specifically designed to direct "non-user" traffic ir,to the <br />nearest public library. The program will allow the library to <br />reach out to the disadvantaged by placing at least three of the <br />five washateria-based racks near low-income housing. <br /> <br />II <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />t I <br />
