<br />PRO C LAM A T ION <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the sale of Buddy Poppies by the Veterans of <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Foreign Wars of the United States is authorized by an <br /> <br />Act of Congress, and endorsed by the President; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Poppy Sale is sponsored ~n San Marcos by <br /> <br />VFW Post 3413; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the funds so raised are used in the local <br /> <br />community, and to insure the continued functioning of <br /> <br />the organization's national rehabilitation and welfare <br /> <br />service; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, bringing aid to those who have suffered from <br /> <br />war that this nation might live is a most fitting tribute <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />to those who died for us: <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I, Ellis Serur, Mayor of San Marcos, <br /> <br />do hereby authorize and recognize this cause as one most <br /> <br />worthy of the support of all our citizens, and do proclaim <br /> <br />MEMORIAL DAY, FRIDAY, MAY 30 as BUDDY POppy DAY in <br /> <br />San Marcos, and call upon all to wear a Poppy as evidence <br /> <br />of our gratitude to the men of this nation who helped <br /> <br />America when her need was greatest. <br /> <br />WHEREUPON I have set my hand and caused the seal of the <br /> <br />City to be affixed, this 26th day of May, A.D., 1969. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />___~-o i) <br /> <br /> <br />/.0r:-; r_~i-w~ <br /> <br />L- Ellis 6erur <br />Mayor <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />r[);;IO ~tL~e_9(e~8J 1/ dL <br /> <br />Dorothy O.
