<br />,'} <br /> <br />regular meeting, may 26, 1969 <br /> <br />page two <br /> <br />The second recommendation from the Planning & Zoning <br />Commission referred to a request from Mrs. R.L. Lightfoot <br />for a change of zoning from "R" to "0" on property located <br />at 802 North LBJ Drive. Mr. Smith moved that the change <br />of zoning be approved. Mr. Serur seconded the motion. <br />Mr. Zavesky said that since LBJ Drive had not been widened, <br />the same crowded traffic problems still existed. <br />Dr. Craddock arrived at the meeting at 7:45 p,m. and <br />apologized for being late. I <br />Travis Tate, recognized by the Mayor, offered as his <br />"personal opinion" that change of zoning on the Lightfoot <br />property to "multi-family' would only increase the congest- <br />ed traffic already existing. The Mayor asked Mr. Tate if <br />he 'owned property in t he area, a nd he replied, no, but <br />he Soon would. Vinton Hartwell, recognized by the Mayor, <br />protested the change of zoning on the same ~rounds of <br />increased t~affic. Upon being questioned, Mr. Hartwell <br />said he did not own property within 200 feet of the <br />Lightfoot pr,operty, but lived on Chestnut Street. After <br />further discussion, the following vote was recorded on the <br />motion to approve the zoning change: <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY: <br /> <br />Craddock, Contreras, Flores, Smith <br />Dannelley, Serur, Zavesky <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion,ca~ried by 4 to 3 vote. <br /> <br />The Mayor read aloud a letter from George Reed, Tax <br />Assessor-Collector, requesting authorization to sell a <br />25-ft. lot acquired through tax sale. The letter is <br />attached. Mr. Zav~sky .moved that the City sell the lot. <br />Mr. Flores seconded th.e, motion, which. passed unanimously. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor read aloud a letter from Sgt. A. E. Roberts, <br />Texas Highway Patrol, requesting the City to purchase <br />two additional receivers on the San Marcos Police Depart- <br />ment radio frequency, for use of the Texas Highway Patrol. <br />The letter is attached. The Mayor recommended that the <br />City buy the additional receivers. The City Manager said <br />the cost would be between $160 and $170 apiece. <br />Dr. Craddock moved that the City purchase two additional <br />receiving units for Use by the Texas Highway Patrol. <br />Mr. Smith seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The City Manager recdmmendedto the Council that <br />light be installed at Hopkins and Moore Street. <br />moved that the Council authorize installation of <br />light at Hopkins and Moore. Mr. Flores seconded <br />which passed unanimously~ <br /> <br />a traffic <br />Dr. Craddock <br />a traffic <br />the motion, <br /> <br />Dr. Craddock moved that the Council adjourn. Mr. Dannelley <br />seconded the motion. <br /> <br />Herbert E. Karren, of San Marcos Properties, asked to <br />speak to the Council. He referred to a letter to the <br />Council which he had delievered to the Mayor that after- <br />noon. He requesf~d, in view of the action taken on the <br />rezoning of property at 802 North LBJ Drive, ~rom "R" to <br />"0", that his letter be brought before the Council. He <br /> <br />I <br />
