<br />44. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 2004- 4q R <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, APPOINTING PRESIDING JUDGES AND ALTERNATE JUDGES TO <br />SERVE IN A GENERAL AND SPECIAL ELECTION BY THE CITY TO BE <br />HELD ON MAY 15, 2004; CHARGING THE JUDGES WITH THE DUTY TO <br />HOLD THIS ELECTION IN THEIR RESPECTIVE POLLING PLACES FOR <br />EACH PRECINCT; APPOINTING AN EARLY VOTING BALLOT BOARD; <br />APPOINTING A PRESIDING JUDGE OF THE CENTRAL COUNTING <br />STATION, A TABULATION SUPERVISOR OF THE CENTRAL COUNTING <br />STATION, AND A CENTRAL COUNTING STATION MANAGER; APPROVING <br />THE APPOINTMENT BY THE PRESIDING JUDGE OF THE CENTRAL <br />COUNTING STATION OF CERTAIN CLERKS; APPROVING THE <br />APPOINTMENT BY THE TABULATION SUPERVISOR OF CERTAIN <br />ASSISTANTS; APPROVING THE APPOINTMENT BY THE EARLY VOTING <br />CLERK OF CERTAIN DEPUTY EARLY VOTING CLERKS; AND DECLARING <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />RECITALS: <br /> <br />1. On February 23, 2004, the City Council of the City of San Marcos, Texas, adopted an <br />ordinance ordering the holding of a general and special election by the City on May 15, 2004, <br />establishing the rate of compensation to be paid judges, clerks, and assistants to the tabulation <br />supervisor for services rendered during the election, making provision for the conduct ofthe election I <br />and other provisions incident to the purposes thereof. <br /> <br />2. Section 5 ofthat ordinance provides that the City Council ofthe City shall by resolution duly <br />adopted, appoint presiding and alternate judges to serve in the election at the polling places for the <br />respective precincts set forth in Section 9 thereof, and that ordinance further ordains that it shall be <br />each judge's duty to hold the election in the precincts and that any vacancies occurring after the <br />appointment of the judges may be filled by subsequent resolution( s) of the City Council. <br /> <br />3. Section 13 of that ordinance provides that the City Council of the City shall, by resolution <br />duly adopted, appoint the Early Voting Ballot Board, a Presiding Judge of the Central Counting <br />Station, a Tabulation Supervisor of the Central Counting Station,.and a Central Counting Station <br />Manager. <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />P ART 1. The persons set forth below are appointed as presiding judges and alternate <br />judges, to serve in the City's general and special election on May 15, 2004, at the respective polling <br />places for the precincts set forth below: <br />
