b)
c)
14) Chestnut Street and Hillcrest Drive; and
15) Chestnut Street and Holland Street.
iii) Perform pedestrian, bicycle, bus, and heavy vehicle counts concurrent with
turning movement counts at the above intersections during the AM and PM peak
periods.
iv) Perform peak period travel time runs from 7:00-9:00 a.m. and from 4:00-6:00
p.m. through the study area network along LBJ Drive to document existing travel
conditions for validation of existing condition CORSIM models.
Model Existing Traffic Operations, to include:
i) Coordination with the City to obtain existing signal timing and phasing
information;
ii) Coordination with the City and TxState to obtain information on existing bus
routes within the study area network; and
iii) Performance of field review of all roadways and intersections within the study
area to observe existing traffic operations, pedestrian and bicycle activities,
document existing geometrics, lane assignments, and traffic control devices, for
inclusion in the corridor operations study.
Perform micro-simulation model, to include:
i) Preparation of Synchro Models
1) Prepare existing AM and PM peak hour traffic models using "Synchro 7.0" to
document existing intersection levels of service within the study area;
2) Coordinate with the City and the project team to obtain necessary information
including design year traffic volume data and growth projections;
3) Coordinate with the City and TxState to obtain information on proposed
construction projects in the vicinity of the study area;
4) Coordinate with the City and the project team to identify up to three (3)
alternatives for proposed reconstruction of LBJ Drive;
5) Based on information obtained from the City, prepare design year daily traffic
projections and turning movement forecasts for each of the design
alternatives; and
6) Based on the existing traffic model, prepare alternative AM and PM peak hour
traffic models using "Synchro 7.0" to document levels of service within the
study area.
ii) Preparation of CORSIM Microsimulation Models
1) Using the existing AM and PM peak hour traffic models in "Synchro 7.0,"
prepare traffic micro-simulation models using CORSIM for roadways within
the study area;
2) Run and calibrate the existing peak hour traffic models in CORSIM to reflect
real world traffic conditions within the study area network;
3) Using the existing calibrated traffic models as the base, and incorporating
signal timing and phasing developed in Synchro, develop AM and PM peak
hour traffic models in CORSIM to reflect transportation network
configurations associated with proposed reconstruction alternatives. Four (4)
scenarios associated with proposed design of LBJ Drive will be modeled for
6
