<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />185 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1979-50-R <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, ORDERING AN <br />ELECTION TO BE HELD ON THE 11TH DAY. OF <br />AUGUST, 1979, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING <br />A PROPOSITION REGARDING COLLECTIVE BARGAINING; <br />DESIGNATING ELECTION OFFICIALS AND POLLING <br />PLACES FOR SAID ELECTION; AND ESTABLISHING <br />PROCEDURES FOR CONDUCT OF THE ELECTION. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a petition calling for a vote on Collective <br />Bargaining for members of the Police Department of San Marcos <br />was presented to the City Secretary on June 11, 1979; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said petition was certified.by the City Secretary <br />on June 25, 1979 to contain an insufficient number of signatures; <br />and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, said petition subsequently has been amended and <br />does now contain the signatures of at least 150 eligible voters <br />of the City of San Marcos as required by State law; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the petition has on this date been certified <br />to be sufficient as to form and content; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />Part 1. <br /> <br />That an election be held in said City on Saturday, <br />the 11th day of August, 1979, at which election the <br />following proposition shall be submitted to the <br />resident, qualified voters of the City for their <br />action thereupon: <br /> <br />Proposi tion <br /> <br />For/Against: <br /> <br />Part 2. <br /> <br />Adoption of the State law applicable to <br />"policemen", which establishes Collective <br />Bargaining when a majority of the affected <br />employees favor representation by an <br />employees' association and which preserves <br />the prohibition of strikes and lockouts <br />and provides penalties therefor. <br /> <br />Said election shall be held at the following places <br />in said City and the following named persons are <br />appointed officials for said election: <br /> <br />In Election Precinct No. 11, at Dunbar Center in said City, <br />with Mrs. Elida Mendez as Presiding Judge, and Mrs. Nelvia <br />Burleson as Alternate Presiding Judge, and said Presiding <br />Judge shall appoint the necessary clerks to assist her <br />which shall not exceed two (2) clerks. <br /> <br />In Election Precinct No. 12, at Guadalupe Hall in said City, <br />with Mr. Joe Gonzales as Presiding Judge and Mrs. Herminia <br />Flores as Alternate Presiding Judge, and said Presiding Judge <br />shall appoint the necessary clerks to assist him which shall <br />not exceed two (2) clerks. <br /> <br />In Election Precinct No. 13, at San Marcos High School in <br />said City, with Mrs.. Rose Brooks as Presiding Judge and <br />Mrs. Elsie Garcia as Alternate Presiding Judge, and said <br />Presiding Judge shall appoint the necessary clerks to assist <br />her which shall not exceed two (2) clerks. <br />
