I I I 185 RESOLUTION NO. 1979-50-R A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, ORDERING AN ELECTION TO BE HELD ON THE 11TH DAY. OF AUGUST, 1979, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING A PROPOSITION REGARDING COLLECTIVE BARGAINING; DESIGNATING ELECTION OFFICIALS AND POLLING PLACES FOR SAID ELECTION; AND ESTABLISHING PROCEDURES FOR CONDUCT OF THE ELECTION. WHEREAS, a petition calling for a vote on Collective Bargaining for members of the Police Department of San Marcos was presented to the City Secretary on June 11, 1979; and, WHEREAS, said petition was certified.by the City Secretary on June 25, 1979 to contain an insufficient number of signatures; and, WHEREAS, said petition subsequently has been amended and does now contain the signatures of at least 150 eligible voters of the City of San Marcos as required by State law; and, WHEREAS, the petition has on this date been certified to be sufficient as to form and content; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: Part 1. That an election be held in said City on Saturday, the 11th day of August, 1979, at which election the following proposition shall be submitted to the resident, qualified voters of the City for their action thereupon: Proposi tion For/Against: Part 2. Adoption of the State law applicable to "policemen", which establishes Collective Bargaining when a majority of the affected employees favor representation by an employees' association and which preserves the prohibition of strikes and lockouts and provides penalties therefor. Said election shall be held at the following places in said City and the following named persons are appointed officials for said election: In Election Precinct No. 11, at Dunbar Center in said City, with Mrs. Elida Mendez as Presiding Judge, and Mrs. Nelvia Burleson as Alternate Presiding Judge, and said Presiding Judge shall appoint the necessary clerks to assist her which shall not exceed two (2) clerks. In Election Precinct No. 12, at Guadalupe Hall in said City, with Mr. Joe Gonzales as Presiding Judge and Mrs. Herminia Flores as Alternate Presiding Judge, and said Presiding Judge shall appoint the necessary clerks to assist him which shall not exceed two (2) clerks. In Election Precinct No. 13, at San Marcos High School in said City, with Mrs.. Rose Brooks as Presiding Judge and Mrs. Elsie Garcia as Alternate Presiding Judge, and said Presiding Judge shall appoint the necessary clerks to assist her which shall not exceed two (2) clerks.
