<br />47 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1978-l6-R <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY Of SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, APPOINTING A <br />SPECIAL CANVASSING BOARD TO COUNT ABSENTEE <br />BALLOTS CAST IN THE REGULAR CITY ELECTION <br />TO BE HELD APRIL 1, 1978, AND DECLARING AN <br />EffECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Subdivision 7 of Article 5.05 of the Texas Election Code <br />provides for the appointment of a special canvassing board to count <br />absentee ballots; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Marcos wishes to <br />appoint such a board instead of its former practice of sending each <br />ballot to the polling place in which the voter resides for coun"ting; <br />now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL Of THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />Part 1. That the absentee ballots cast in the 1978 Regular City Elect~ <br />shall be counted by a special canvassing board, which shall follow <br />the procedure for counting ballots set out in Subdivision 6 of Article <br />5.05 of the Texas Election Code. <br /> <br />Part 2. That the Presiding Judge previously appointed to administer <br />the Election at City Precinct #33, Beverley Pennington, or her <br />successor, is hereby appointed Judge of the special canvassing board <br />to count adsentee ballots cast in the 1978 Regular City Election, <br />to be held on April 1, 1978. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Part 3. That the clerks selected by the Presiding Judge for assistance' <br />in the conduct of the Regular City Election in Precinct #33 on April 1" <br />1978, the number of which shall not be less than two, are hereby <br />designated clerks of the special canvassing board to count absentee <br />ballots cast in said Election. <br /> <br />Part 4. That the City Secretary of said City is hereby instructed to <br />deliver all absentee ballots cast in said Election to the special <br />canvassing board at the Public Library, said location being also the <br />polling place for Precinct #33. <br /> <br />Part 5.
