<br />'I <br /> <br />69 <br /> <br />RESOWTION NO. 1978-20 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, SUPPORTING THE APPLICA- <br />TION OF THE SCHEIB OPPORTUNITY CENTER FOR FUNDS <br />FROM THE GOVERNOR'S DISCRETIONARY FUND-SECTION <br />304 EDA AND THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY <br />AFFAIRS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A LOCAL MHMR <br />CENTER. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Marcos has set aside <br />$125,000 from the Year III, Community Development Block Grant funds <br />for the construction of a building to be used by the Scheib <br />Opportunity Center; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Scheib Opportunity Center has requested additional <br />grants in the amounts of $68,000 from the Governor's Discretionary <br />Fund - Section 304 EDA and $17,000 from the Texas Department <br />of Community Affairs; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this additional funding would allow the Schieb Opportunity <br />Center to develop,,'a local MHMR center that would allow area reE;idents <br />the opportunity to care for their families in this community rather <br />than resort to permanent or temporary institutionalization in a <br />distant city; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Section 1. That the City Council of the City of San Marcos, Texas, <br />supports the application of the Scheib Opportunity Center for <br />funds from the Governor's Discretionary Fund-Section 304 EDA <br />and the Texas Department of Community Affairs in the amounts <br />of $68,000 and $17,000 for the construction of a local MHMR CENTER. <br /> <br />Section 2.
