'I 69 RESOWTION NO. 1978-20 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, SUPPORTING THE APPLICA- TION OF THE SCHEIB OPPORTUNITY CENTER FOR FUNDS FROM THE GOVERNOR'S DISCRETIONARY FUND-SECTION 304 EDA AND THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY AFFAIRS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A LOCAL MHMR CENTER. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Marcos has set aside $125,000 from the Year III, Community Development Block Grant funds for the construction of a building to be used by the Scheib Opportunity Center; and, WHEREAS, Scheib Opportunity Center has requested additional grants in the amounts of $68,000 from the Governor's Discretionary Fund - Section 304 EDA and $17,000 from the Texas Department of Community Affairs; and, WHEREAS, this additional funding would allow the Schieb Opportunity Center to develop,,'a local MHMR center that would allow area reE;idents the opportunity to care for their families in this community rather than resort to permanent or temporary institutionalization in a distant city; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: I Section 1. That the City Council of the City of San Marcos, Texas, supports the application of the Scheib Opportunity Center for funds from the Governor's Discretionary Fund-Section 304 EDA and the Texas Department of Community Affairs in the amounts of $68,000 and $17,000 for the construction of a local MHMR CENTER. Section 2. That this Resolution be, and is hereby, in full force and effective immediately from and after its passage.
