104. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2004- 72 R <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS EXPRESSING THE <br />CITY'S CONTINUED SUPPORT FOR A STATE <br />AIRPORT FOR CENTRAL TEXAS IN SAN <br />MARCOS; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, section 21.069 of the Transportation Code requires the State to <br />establish and maintain a State Airport in central Texas; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, section 21.069 of the Transportation Code requires the State to <br />select the location for the State Airport in central Texas by using factors that include "the <br />convenience, comfort, and accommodation of air traffic flying into and departing from <br />the Central Texas region"; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of San Marcos owns and operates the 'San Marcos <br />Municipal Airport, which serves as a reliever and general aviation airport for the Austin <br />and San Antonio region; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council believes that the San Marcos Municipal Airport, <br />with a size of approximately 1,400 acres, would be an ideal location for the establishment <br />of a State Airport under these statutory criteria; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, section 21.069 of the Transportation Code requires approval of the <br />governing body of the City in order for the State Airport to be established within the City; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City Council, in Resolution No. 2002-7R and in Resolution No. <br />2003 ~64R, expressed support for the establishment of a State Airport for central Texas at <br />the site of the San Marcos Municipal Airport, and the City Council wishes to reaffirm its <br />continued support for the establishment of a State Airport for central Texas at the site of <br />the San Marcos Municipal Airport; now, therefore <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br /> PART 1. The City of San Marcos continues to support the establishment of a <br />State Airport for central Texas at the site of the San Marcos Municipal Airport, on an <br />interim or permanent basis. <br /> <br /> PART 2. If the San Marcos Municipal Airport is chosen as the State Airport for <br />central Texas, then the City of San Marcos will transfer ownership of the property upon <br />which the San Marcos Municipal Airport is located (approximately 1,400 acres) (the <br />"Property"), and all existing improvements on the Property that are presently owned by <br /> <br /> <br />
