<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />1341 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1978-8o-R <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, ENCOURAGING <br />THE DESIGNATION OF RANCH ROAD 12-32 AND <br />HIGHWAY 1623 AS STATE HIGHWAY 80 TO <br />REACH FROM LULING THROUGH SAN MARCOS AND <br />BLANCO TO STONEWALL, TEXAS; AND DECLARING <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the rapid growth in population for Central Texas has <br />exceeded all expectations and the growth in tourist, University <br />student, and permanent resident population has centered in the <br />areas of San Marcos, Wimberley, Blanco, Stonewall, and <br />Fredericksburg; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />PART 1. That the City Council of said City request the State <br />Department of Highways and Public Transportation to redesignate <br />Ranch Road 12-32 between Interstate Highway 35 in San Marcos <br />and Blanco, Texas, as State Highway 80 and further to redesignate <br />Highway 1623 from Blanco to Stonewall, Texas, in Gillespie County <br />as a continuation of State Highway 80 so as to have the overall <br />designation of State Highway 80 from Luling through San Harcos <br />and Blanco to Stonewall, Texas. <br /> <br />PART 2. That the City Council of said City request the <br />Commissioners Court of Hays, Caldwell, Gillespie, Blanco and <br />Comal Counties as well as the Municipal Government of Blanco, <br />Stonewall, and Luling to give their support by also encouraging <br />the State Department of Highways and Public Transportation to <br />make this designation. <br /> <br />PART 3. That the elected representatives of these areas also be <br />made knowledgeable of this request and their guidance sought in <br />promoting safety and conservation of fuel by this change in <br />designation and the future reconstruction of State Highway 80. <br /> <br />PART 4.
