<br />n <br />RESOLUTION NO. 197,7-16-R <br /> <br />200 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE.CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS,'TEXAS SUPPORTING AND ADOPTING THAT <br />RESOLUTION ADOPTED BY THE ENVIRONMENTAL ADVISORY <br />COMMITTEE OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS ON FEBRUARY <br />25,1977, SAID RESOLUTION PROPOSING THAT THE CITY <br />OF SAN MARCOS SEND A SPOKESPERSON TO THE MEETING <br />OF THE TEXAS WATER QUALITY BOARD ON MARCH 3, 1977, <br />FOR THE PURPOSE OF REPRESENTING THE DESIRE OF THE <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS TO OPPOSE THE PROPOSED AMENDMENT <br />TO THE EDWARDS AQUIFER ORDER AND FOR THE PURPOSE OF <br />SPEAKING IN FAVOR OF A UNIFORM REGULATION OF ALL <br />COUNTIES INVOLVED. <br /> <br />WJIEREAS, the Texas Water Quality Board has proposed an amendment to Board Order <br />No. 75-0128-20 (Edwards A~uifer Order) which would allow the provisions of said <br />order to be applied on a county-by-county basis rather than on the current basis <br />of the overall area of the Edwards A~uifer and Recharge Zone; and <br /> <br />WJIEREAS, the Environmental Advisory Committee has reviewed this proposed amenwnent <br />and finds itself in unanimouq agreement with an argument contained within the <br />Hearing Commission Report to be submitted to the Texas Water Quality Board to the ,. <br />effect that the Edwards A~uifer is one geologic unit and should be regulated as one <br />unit and not arbitrarily divided along political boundaries; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Marcos concurs in this position of <br />the Environmental Advisory Committee; and <br /> <br />WJIEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Marcos is of the op~n~on that dividing <br />the existing Edwards A~uifer Order into separately regulated jurisdictions will <br />jeopardize the protection of the A~uifer from pollution; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Section 1. That the City Council of the City of San Marcos supports and adopts <br />the resolution of the Environmental Advisory Committee of February 25, 197'7, as <br />written. <br /> <br />Section 2. That the City Manager be, and is, hereby authorized to send a representa- <br />tive with a copy of said Resolution for presentation to the meeting of the Texas <br />Water Quality Board on March 3, 1977. ' <br /> <br />Section 3.
