<br />I <br />-' <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />I~ <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1977-24-R <br /> <br />225 <br /> <br />RESOWTION ORDERING A SPECIAL ELECTION <br /> <br />THE STATE OF TEXAS <br />THE COUNI'Y OF HAYS <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS <br /> <br />On this, the 4th day of April, 1977, the City Council of the City of <br />San Marcos, Hays County, Texas, convened in Regular Session at the regular <br />meeting place at City Hall in said City, with the following members present: <br /> <br />Mayor Craddock, Council Members Arredondo, Breihan, Cavazos, <br />Hansen, James and Sutton, and City Secretary Hambrick; and <br /> <br />those absent were: None. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, no candidate for Place 2 in the Regular City Election held <br />April 2, 1977, received a majority of the total vote, as required by Sec. 5.05 <br />of the Charter of the City of San Marcos; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the two candidates receiving the largest number of votes in <br />Place 2 were John Hansen and Bill Pennington; and <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS : <br /> <br />That a special election be held in said City on the 39th day of April, 1977, <br />to determine the wirming candidates for Place 2. <br /> <br />furiss Hambrick is hereby appointed Clerk for absentee voting and Kathleen <br />&:msall and Ruth Rosales are hereby appointed Deputy Clerks for absentee <br />voting. The absentee voting shall be held at City Hall within said City and <br />said place of absentee voting shall remain open for at least eight hours on <br />each day for absentee voting which is not a Saturday, a Sunday, or an <br />official State holiday, beginning on the 20th day and continuing thrDugh the <br />4th day preceding the date of said election. Said place of voting shall <br />remain open between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on each day for <br />said absentee voting. The above described place for absentee voting is elso <br />the absentee clerk's mailing address to which ballot applications and ballots <br />voted by mail may be sent. <br />'. <br /> <br />That said election shall be held in accordance with the Election Code of this <br />State and only resident qualified voters of said City shall be eligible 1:0 <br />vote at said election. <br /> <br />Notice of said election will be given in accordance with the Election Code, <br />and the City Secretary is hereby instructed to have said notice posted and/ <br />or published in accordance with said Article 4.05. <br /> <br />Immediately after said election is held, the officers holding same shall make <br />returns of the result thereof to the Mayor of this City as required by the <br />Election Code of this state. <br /> <br />A copy of this Resolution shall also serve as a writ of election which shall <br />be delivered to the above appointed Presiding Judges, for said election. <br /> <br />PASSED AND APPROVED this 4th day of April, 1977. <br /> <br />Dr. Emmie Craddock <br />Mayor <br /> <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br />Doriss Hambrick, City Secretary <br /> <br />APPROVED: <br /> <br />Charles E.
