<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />17 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1977-26-R <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CAPITAL <br />AREA PLANNING COUNCIL TO SUBMIT A GRANT APPLI- <br />CATION TO THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION AND TO <br />EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH INTERNATIONAL COMMUNI- <br />CATIONS CORPORATION FOR THE PURCHASE AND MAIN- <br />TENANCE OF ONE HIGHSPEED VIDEO TERMINAL DEVICE; <br />AND AGREEING TO PAY THE 15% CASH COMMITMENT <br />REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PROJECT AND TO <br />CONTINUE THE OPERATION OF THE FUNDED EQUIPMENT <br />FOR THE USEFUL LIFE OF THE EQUIPMENT. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of San Marcos wishes to parti'cipate in a Capital <br />Area Planning Council project designed to improve law enforcemen1: by <br />upgrading the operating efficiency of regional law enforcement aqencies <br />wi th the acquisition of new, improved highspeed vide'o (CRT) Tele;:orrnnuni- <br />cations Terminals to replace the existing Teletype units and add new <br />subscribers on Texas I Law Enforcement Telecorrnnunications Network (TLETN),I <br />and; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, It is recognized that Criminal Justice Division funding <br />is available to those units of government who agree to accept the law- <br />fully promulgated rules and regulations for administration of grants <br />so funded, and; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of San Marcosfs desirous of obtaining Criminal <br />Justice Division funding to defray 85% of the purchase price and the <br />first year maintenance cost of the new terminal equipment, and; <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of San Marcos recognizes, that 15% of the purchas, <br />price and first year maintenance cost will amount to about $1,520;, andl <br />that subsequent years maintenance cost will not be funded by Capital <br />Area Planning Council nor the Criminal Justice Division, and that those <br />maintenance costs must be borne entirely by the City of San Marcos, <br />and that the subsequent years maintenance cost is contractually guaran- <br />teed at ($105) per month, ':$1,260) per year until January 1982, and; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, An agency receiving equipment under the project will be <br />required to provide a suitable site for the equipment to include a <br />sturdy table or desk for the equipment to be placed upon and an electricl <br />circuit providing for THREE (3) 115 VAC electrical outlets, within 5 <br />feet of the physical location of the terminal, three-prong, grotmded, <br />type capable of providing up to 5 amperes of current to each of the <br />three outlets, now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />SECTION 1: That the City of San Marcos consents to and au1~orizes <br />Capital Area Planning Council to submit a grant application to the <br />Criminal Justice Division and to execute a contract with International <br />Corrnnunications Corporation (ICC) for the purchase and maintenance of <br />ONE highspeed video (CRT) terminal device. <br /> <br />SECTION 2: That the City of San Marcos agrees to pay the 15% <br />cash corrnnitment required to participate in the project and that the <br />City of San Marcos will cooperate with Capital Area Planning Council <br />and International Communications Corporation to set up a bi11in9 and pa~ <br />ment?procedure that will allow for a smooth transition when the funded <br />project expires after 12 months; and, agrees to continue the opo~ration <br />of funded equipment, using locally budgeted funds, for law enforcement <br />or Criminal Justice purposes for the useful life of the equipment. <br />
