<br />202 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1977-58-R <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, REQUESTING ACTION BE TAKEN BY THE UNITED STATES SOIL <br />CONSERVATION SERVICE AT THE EARLIEST POSSIBLE DATE ON THE <br />COMPLETION OF A PLAN FOR FLOOD WATER RETARDATION STRUCTURES <br />ON THE UPPER SAN MARCOS WATER SHED; AND PROVIDING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the San Marcos River is an important environmental feature in the <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />City of San Marcos; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the San Marcos River is highly susceptible to flooding; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this flooding has been injurious to life, property ,and the natural <br /> <br />features of San Marcos; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the United States Soil Conservation Service has for some time been <br /> <br />working on the plan for flood water retardation structures on the upper <br /> <br />San Marcos Water Shed to reduce the flooding; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />Part 1. That this Council hereby request action at the earliest possible date <br /> <br />on the completion of the flood water retardation structure plan, the approval <br /> <br />of funding for completion of the plan, and the actual construction of these <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />flood water retardation structures. <br /> <br />Part 2.
