<br />18"6. <br />Special Meeting <br /> <br />May 24, 2004 <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />CANVASSING RETURNS AND DECLARING RESULTS OF THE GENERAL AND SPECIAL <br />ELECTION, HELD ON MAY 15, 2004 FOR THE PURPOSES OF ELECTING A MAYOR, <br />A CITY COUNCIL MEMBER, PLACE 1, A CITY COUNCIL MEMBER, PLACE 2, AND A <br />CITY COUNCIL MEMBER, PLACE 3, AND SUBMITTING PROPOSITIONS TO THE <br />VOTERS REGARDING CITY CHARTER AMENDMENTS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. <br /> <br />Mr~ Thomaides moved for adoption of the Ordinance on emergency and Mr. <br />Diaz seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mayor Habingreither introduced farewell remarks from outgoing Council <br />Members. 1) Mr. Montoya thanked God for allowing him to serve his <br />community~ He also thanked his family and friends for their support and <br />encouragements~ He stated he was grateful for all the City Council <br />appointees' hard work. He stated he was still available to serve the <br />community even though he was no longer on the Council. 2) Mayor <br />Habingreither thanked all the citizens of San Marcos who s'upported him. <br />He thanked his family and City Staff for all their help. He stated it was <br />an honor serving the City of San Marcos. <br /> <br />Mayor Habingreither introduced the issuance of the Certificates of <br />Election to the elected Mayor, to the elected City Council Member, Place <br />1, to the elected City Council Member, Place 2 and to the elected City <br />Council Member, Place 3. Diane Sanders administered the Oath of Office to <br />Mayor Susan Narvaiz, Anita Reyes administered the Oath of Office to Ed <br />Mihalkanin and Gaylord Bose and u.s. Magistrate Judge John W. Primomo <br />administered the Oath of Office to Daniel Guerrero. <br /> <br />Mayor Narvaiz introduced the election of the Mayor Pro-Tempore and Deputy <br />Mayor Pro-Tempore. Mr. Diaz moved to elect John Thomaides as Mayor Pro- <br />Tempore and Mr. Bose seconded the motion. On roll call the following vote <br />was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br /> <br />Diaz, Guerrero, Mihalkanin, Narvaiz, Bose and Taylor. <br /> <br />NAY: None. <br /> <br />ABSTAIN: Thomaides. <br /> <br />Mr~ Mihalkanin moved to elect Bill Taylor as Deputy Mayor Pro-Tempore and <br />Mr. Thomaides seconded the motion. On roll call the following vote was <br />recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br /> <br />Diaz, Guerrero, Mihalkanin, Narvaiz, Thomaides and Bose. <br /> <br />NAY: <br /> <br />None. <br /> <br />ABSTAIN: Taylor. <br />
