<br />235 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, ENDORSING THE CONCEPT OF <br />GENERAL REVENUE SHARING IN ITS PRESENT FORM AND <br />URGING THE EXTENSION OF SAME BY THE CONGRESS OF <br />THE UNITED STATES. <br /> <br />'WHEREAS, on October 20, 1972, Congress enacted a Bill known as "State and <br /> <br />I Local Fiscal Assistance Act of 1972", making assistance available to state <br /> <br />and local governments; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the City Council of the City of San Marcos, <br /> <br />Texas, that such program has been of benefit to the City of San Marcos; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council desires to express its interest in the continuation <br /> <br />of General Revenue Sharing to state and local governments as presently authorized <br /> <br />by Congress; now, thefefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />PART 1. That the City of San Marcos acting by and through its City Council <br /> <br />does hereby express the value and assistance offered the City of San Marcos <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />by General Revenue Sharing, and does hereby urge the Congress of the United <br /> <br />States to continue General Revenue Sharing in a manner and form consistent with <br /> <br />the "State and Local Fiscal Assistance Act of 1972". <br /> <br />PART 2.
