<br />46 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1976-33-R <br /> <br />A RESOLtITION OF 'TIlE CITY COUNCIL OF TIlE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS, ALLOCATING FUNDS FOR A COST OF LIVING <br />ADJUS'INENT FOR CITY EMPLOYEES AND AUIHORIZING 'TIlE CITY <br />MANAGER TO PlACE VARIOUS REMUNERATION PACKAGES BEFORE <br />CITY EMPLOYEES FOR TIlEIR DECISION. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />WHEREAS, City employees last received a salary cost of living adjustment <br />on June 29, 1976; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, same twenty-seven (27) months will have elapsed between that <br />time and the beginning of the 1976-77 fiscal year on October 1, 1976; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, during this period the cost. of living will have risen by a total <br />of between twenty-three to twenty-five (23 - 25%); and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council desires to reduce the disparity between the <br />remuneration scale of the municipal employees and the rise in the cost of <br />living; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City Council wishes to. encourage a bilateral discussion and <br />decision7making process on this matter with the employees of the City of San <br />Marcos, Texas; now.. therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY 'TIlE CITY COUNCIL OF 'TIlE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />PART 1. That the City Council hereby sets aside $112,249 in the General <br />Fund and $18,016. in the Utility Fund to be. allocated as a source.of funds for <br />a remuneratIon cost of living adjustment for. the municipal employees for the <br />fiscal year 1976-1977. <br /> <br />PART 2. That the City Manager is authorized to place before., the employees <br />of the City of San Marcos choices between various remuneration packages, Ul- <br />eluding a one-time cost of . living adjustment or' a staged step installment ad- <br />justment for reducing this disparity. <br /> <br />PART 3. That if the option'.chosen is a one-time cost of living . adjustment, <br />then such cost of living adjustments shalL be in the amount. oL fif teen. percent <br />(15%) for classified employees and ten percent (10%) for unclassified employees. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />PART 4. That if the option. chosen is one of a staged-step installment <br />process, then such cost of living adjustments shall be in equal or near equal <br />installments of four percent (4%) in October 1976,. four percent (4%) in <br />February 1977, and seven percent (7%) in June 1977 for. classified employees; <br />and four percent (4%).in October, four percent (4%) in February 1977, and two <br />percent (2%) in June 1977 for unclassified employees. <br /> <br />PART 5. That no additional-remuneration package shall exceed $112,249 <br />from the General Fund and $18,016 from the Utility Fund allocated above as the <br />source of funds for cost of living adjustments. <br /> <br />PART 6.
