l50-d

EXHIBIT C

ADDENDUM TO ORDINANCE NO. 1975 -

SPECIFICATIONS FOR OFF-STREET PARKING
LOT PAVEMENT CONSTRUCTION

1. Sub-base.

I

a). This item shall govern the plaeement and compaetion of all materials
obtained from roadway, borrow, ehannel and structural excavation for utilization
in the eonstruction of off-street parking lots.

b). Construetion Methods.

The area shall be cleared of stumps, brush, logs, rubbish, trees and shrubs,
exeept trees and shrubs in eertain areas designated by the Engineer for preservation.
Those trees, shrubs and other landseape features specifieally designated by the Engineer
for preservation shall be earefully proteeted from abuse, marring or damage during
construetion. Trees and shrubs designated for preservation that must be pruned shall
be trimmed as directed and all exposed euts over two inches (2") in diameter shall be
treated with an approved asphaltic material.

Areas required for parking lot construction shall be cleared and grubbed of
all stumps and roots (except for designated trees and shrubs). Stump holes or other
small excavations in the limits of the construetion shall be back-filled with suitable
material and thoroughly tamped by approved methods before eomrnencing embankment con-
struetion. The surface of the ground, including plowed loosened ground or surface
roughened by small washes or otherwise shall be restored by blading or other methods,
and, where indieated on plans or required by the Engineer, the ground surfaee thus
prepared shall be eompacted by sprinkling and rolling.

I

Where indieated on plans or direeted by the Engineer, the surface of hill-
sides to receive embankment shall be loosened by searifying or plowing to a depth
of not less than four (4) inehes, or cut unto steps before embankment materials are
placed. The embankment shall then be plaeed in layers, as hereinafter speeified,
beginning at the low side in part width layers and inereasing the widths as the embank-
ment is raised. The material which has been loosened shall be reeompaeted simul-
taneously with the embankment material placed at the same elevation.

Exeept as otherwise required by the plans; all parking lots shall be eonstructed
in layers approximately parallel to the finished grade of the roadbed and unless
otherwise specified each layer shall be so constructed as to provide a uniform
slope of one-fourth (1/4) inch per foot.

e). Earth fill - Earth fill shall be defined as that eomposed principally of
material other than rock, and shall be eonstituted of accepted material from approved
sources.

Except as otherwise specified, earth embankment filling shall be constructed
in sueeessive layers for the full width of the individual parking lot cross-seetion
and in such lengths as are best suited to the sprinkling and eompaction methods utilized.

Layers of embankment may be formed by utilizing equipment which will spread
the material as it is dumped, or theY may be formed by being spread by blading or
other aceeptable methods from piles or windrows dumped from exeavating or hauling
equipment in sueh amounts that material is evenly distributed.

I

Eaeh layer of earth fill shall be uniform as to material, density and moisture
eontent before beginning compaetion. Where layers of unlike materials abut eaeh other,
each layer shall be featheredged for at least one hundred (100) feet or the material
shall be so mixed as to prevent abrupt ehanges in the soil. No material plaeed in
the embankment by dumping in a pile or windrow shall be ineorporated in a layer in
that position, but all such pales or windrows shall be moved by blading or similar
methods.

Compaetion of embankments shall be obtained by the method hereinafter described
as "Ordinary Compaction".

l
