93 ORDINANCE NO. 1974 - 65 I II AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN ~ARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING CHAPTER 29, ENTITLED "TRAFFIC", ARTICLE VI, ENTITLED "SPEED REGULATIONS", OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, BY ADDING A NEW SECTION NUMBERED 29-130, ENTITLED "ALTERED SPEED LIMITS", BY CHANGING THE SPEED LIMIT OF THORP LANE FROM 30 MILES PER HOUR TO 35 MILES PER HOUR. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Marcos, Texas, desires to alter the speed limit along Thorp Lane in the City of San Marcos from thirty miles an hour to thirty-five miles an hour; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Marcos is of the opinion that thirty-five miles per hour is a safe, reasonable, and prudent speed in normal and good weather conditions; now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Chapter 29, Article 6 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of San Marcos, Texas, be, and is hereby, amended by adding a new section numbered 29-130 entitled "Altered Speed Limits" so that section shall read as I follows: Section 29-130. Altered Sp~ed Limits. The following portions of the streets designated below are hereby approved for speed limits contrary to the 30 miles per hour allowed in Urban Districts within the City of San Marcos. The prima facie speed limit of portions of those streets indicated below shall conform with the provisions of this section. 1.) Thorp Lane - Between Bugg Lane and Loop 82 the prima facie speed limit shall be 35 miles per hour. SECTION 2. This Ordinance shall take effect ten (10) days from and after its final passage.
