13'A

I

SUMMARY OF YEAR IV ACTIVITIES FOR
THE N.D.P. TEX. A-6, SAN MARCOS, TEXAS

The planning process for Year IV activities has been

coordinated by the Agency's Staff after receiving valuable

input from various segments of the community, including:

the Tex. A-6 Project Area Committee, the Urban Renewal Board

of Commissioners, Planning Consultants, City Staff, and the

local citizenry. This input was assembled into a package

which the Agency felt would do the most for the project

residents and still stay within the guidelines provided

I

by the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Basically, the package consists of a series of project

improvements, which were designed in such a way that they

would improve the quality of life in the program area and

in the entire City as well. The first aspect of this

program involves the services provided directly to the

program area residents - the rebuilding of neighborhood

streets. These improvements were necessary for many

reasons: poor drainage, high maintenance costs, poor

service, and decreased property values to local residents.

Each of these reasons would almost stand alone as reason

enough for the Agency to provide these improvementsl and

together they make up an overwhelming argument that cannot

I

be disagreed with.
