I

1

I

31 August 1973

Mayor Etheredge and City Council
Members of The City of San Marcos

We the undersigned oppose the zoning of lots 6, parts of lots
7 and 8 of Block 4 in the Original Town of San Marcos Addition
from commercial to commercial 2. The property described above
represents a sizable portion of Block 4. The future development
of this large tract will have a marked influence on the future
commercial development of this entire area. The City of San

Marcos is now completing its new municipal court and police

building adjacent to this area. Other new buildings completed

in the past several years are Austin Savings and Loan, Marcy's,
Brown and Assoc. Inc., Murray's Grocery and a dental office.

Hamilton Furniture and The First National Bank of San Marcos

will also complete new buildings within the next year. This

combined construction represents approximately two million

dollars worth of capital expenditure for land development.
It is easily recognizable that the rapid growth of The San

Marcos central business district is expanding in this direction.
