I I I / (,;. 1972-4 AN ORDINANCE RECEIVING CERTAiN TERRITORY ADJOINING THE CITY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, INTO SAID CITY. AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY , WHEREAS, the owners of a strip of land, said strip not ex- ce~ding one-half (~) mile in width, being contiguous and adjacent to the present residents, qualified to vote for members of the State legislature, have petitioned the City of San Marcos to annex said strip of land within its municipal limits, a copy of said petition, with plat and metes and bounds decription, being hereto attached, marked "EXHIBIT A", and made a part hereof for all pertinent purposes; and, WHEREAS, it will be of signal advantage to the City of San Marcos to annex said strip of land within its municipal limits: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of San Marcos, Texas, that said strip of land be and the same is hereby received as a , part of the City of San Marcos, and the corporate limits of the City of San Marcos are hereby extended so as to include said strip of land, and from henceforth the territory so received and annexed shall be bound by the acts and ordinances of said City, in accordance with law. Said strip of land is zoned "R-l", single- family residential. An emergency existing, endangering the public health and welfare, the provisions of the Charter which ordinarily require that ordinances shall be read on three several days, and that no ordinance shall be effective until the expiration of ten (10) days following the date of its final passage, shall be dispensed with, and this ordinance shall be effective immediately upon its passage by the City Council, and publication in a newspaper of general circulation within the City of San Marcos, Texas.
