Present: <br />Susan Narvaiz <br />Council: <br />Gaylord Bose <br />Daniel Guerrero <br />John Thomaides <br />Chris Jones, arrived after roll call <br />Pam Couch <br />City Staff: <br />Rick Menchaca, City Manager <br />Collette Jamison, Assistant City Manager <br />Laurie Anderson, Assistant City Manager <br />Michael Cosentino, City Attorney <br />Sherry Mashburn, City Clerk <br />2. Call to Order and Announce a Quorum is Present <br />With a quorum present, the Special Meeting of the San Marcos City Council was called <br />to order by Mayor Susan Narvaiz at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 7, 2008 in the <br />Council Chambers of the City of San Marcos City Hall, 630 East Hopkins, San Marcos, <br />Texas 78666. <br />3. Consider approval for proposed ad valorem tax rate of $0.5302 per $100 of <br />valuation (Public Hearings are scheduled for August 19, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. and <br />September 2, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 630 E. Hopkins). <br />MOTION: Upon a motion made by Councilmember Couch and a second by <br />Councilmember Guerrero the City Council voted seven (7) for and none (0) opposed, to <br />approve setting the tax rate at $0.5302 per $100 of valuation.
