Question and Answer session with press and public.
Andy Sevilla, Newstreamz.com, asked if this year's budget would end in a surplus or
deficit. The response was that we expect to end the year $1.3 million in revenue over
expenses. Mr. Sevilla asked if transportation is considered in the budget and how we
work with the county. The response was that we budget for annual road maintenance and
we also issue bonds. We also work with the county to set priorities for their bond
elections. The City is responsible for the construction and maintenance of roads in the
city limits, and the county is responsible for the roads outside the city. It was noted that
some projects overlap like McCarty Road.
6. Adjournment.
MOTION: Upon a motion made by Councilmember Guerrero and a second by
Councilmember Jones, the City Council voted seven (7) for and none (0) opposed, to
adjourn the special session of the San Marcos City Council at 8:52 p.m. on Thursday,
August 7, 2008.
