<br />RES 0 L UTI 0 N <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Emmie Craddock and Frank Contreras, Jr.. nave <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />rendered valuable service to the community as Members of <br /> <br />the City Council; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS. each has contributed apecial gifts in creative <br /> <br />service toward improving San Marcos In areas of human <br /> <br />relations and public works; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, a judgement of District Court and other officials <br /> <br />of the State of Texas that no State employee may hold <br /> <br />elective office has forced Dr. Craddock and Mr. Contreras <br /> <br />to resign from City Council: <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />City of San Marcos that Emmie Craddock and Frank Contreras <br /> <br />be given a special vote of appreciation for their years <br /> <br />of service; and, <br /> <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of San Marcos <br /> <br />go on record as protesting an interpretation of the State <br /> <br />Constitution which precludes a State employee's fulfilling <br /> <br />his civic duty by serving without remuneration in the <br /> <br />important function of City Councilman. <br /> <br />PASSED AND APPROVED this <br /> <br />~)Q <br /> <br />Dorothy <br />City Se r <br /> <br /> <br />l11h do, of J"O"".,.
