City of San Marcos
July 9, 1981
Page 2

Inclusion of these items into the current contract will leave approximately
$10,000.00 uncommitted to cover contingency items which may arise during the
construction of the project.

It is my understanding that there is currently some funding budgeted for the
Roosevelt Street realignment and I would strongly recommend that this project
be included under the current contract. The unit prices which we have on
this contract are significantly lower than they will be if a single block of
street is constructed under a separate contract. I'would place the two items
dealing with drainage problems, i.e. the Railroad channel and the Guadalupe
Street outfall, as high priority items. These problems were pointed out in
the final engineering report last June, in the Phase II project, and the recent
rains have made them very obvious.

I trust this information will help you to make a decision on the use of the
excess funds. If any of these projects are selected, please notify me and we
will prepare final designs and negotiate a contract price for their inclusion
in the current contract. If you have any. questions, please call.

Respectful ly,
PRO-TECH ENGINEERING GROUP, INC.

Kell6~ Kilber, P.
