RESOLUTION 2010 - 94R <br />• A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT <br />APPLICATION TO THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF <br />HOMELAND SECURITY, FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT <br />AGENCY ( "U.S. DHS - FEMA ") FOR AN ASSISTANCE TO <br />FIREFIGHTERS GRANT IN THE AMOUNT OF $113,800.00 FOR THE <br />INSTALLATION OF DIRECT SOURCE CAPTURE VEHICLE EXHAUST <br />REMOVAL SYSTEMS; APPROVING THE CITY'S EXPENDITURE OF <br />LOCAL MATCHING FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF $22,760; <br />AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACT ON THE CITY'S <br />BEHALF WITH REGARD TO THE SUBMISSION OF THIS <br />APPLICATION AND ALL CONTRACTS WITH THE U.S. DHS -FEMA <br />AND OTHER PARTIES AS NECESSARY TO IMPLEMENT THE <br />GRANT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />RECITALS: <br />1. Grant funding is available from the U.S. DHS —FEMA through the Assistance to <br />Firefighters Grant Program to provide financial assistance for uses related to firefighter life and <br />safety needs. <br />2. The City q wishes to request grant funding from the U.S. DHS -FEMA for the <br />purchase and installation of direct source capture vehicle exhaust removal systems for Fire <br />Stations 1, 2, 3 and 4. <br />3. The total project cost is estimated to be $113,800.00, and the City understands <br />that it will be responsible for 20% of the total project costs currently estimated to be $22,760.00. <br />RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br />PART 1. Submission of an application to the U.S. DHS -FEMA for funding through <br />the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program for the purchase and installation of direct source <br />capture vehicle exhaust removal systems in the amount of $113,800.00 is approved. <br />PART 2. The City's expenditure of approximately 20% ($22,760.00) of the total <br />project costs is approved. <br />PART 3. The City Manager, Rick Menchaca, is authorized to execute on behalf of <br />the City, at the appropriate time, all contracts with the U.S. DHS - FEMA, and such other parties <br />as are necessary and appropriate for implementation of the grant, if awarded, consistent with this <br />Resolution. <br />1 <br />
