Sec. 90.278. Compliance with state vehicle storage facility requirements. <br />Each operator of a participating storage facility must comply with the Vehicle Storage Facility Act <br />the Storage Facility Regulations with respect to all of the following: <br />(1) Providing notices to vehicle owners and lienholders. <br />(2) Maintaining documentation and records; all required documentation and records for a vehicle <br />towed as police-authorized tows are to be made to the chief of police or any police officer during the <br />normal business hours of the facility. <br />(3) Providing access to stored vehicles. <br />(4) Securing and storage of vehicles. <br />(5) Release and transfer of vehicles. <br />(6) Disposal of vehicles. <br />(7) Limitations on the amounts of fees. <br />Sec. 90.279. Fees; forms of payment. <br />(a) It is unlawful for an operator of a participating storage facility to charge any fee that is prohibited or <br />not authorized by, or which exceeds a maximum fee set under, the Storage Facility Act or the VehicAft <br />Storage Facility Regulations, in connection with the storage of a vehicle towed as a police-authoriz <br />tow to the facility. <br />(b) An operator of a participating storage facility must accept all of the following forms of payment for <br />vehicle storage charges for a vehicle towed as a police-authorized tow: <br />(1) Cash. <br />(2) One party personal check. <br />(3) Money order or traveler's check. <br />(4) Credit card. <br />(c) It is unlawful for a person who makes payment for vehicle storage charges for a vehicle towed as a <br />police-authorized tow by personal check or credit card to stop payment on the check or rescind a credit <br />card charge.
