4. Reconvene and Consider Action on Item Discussed During Executive Session. •
The San Marcos City Council reconvened into regular session on Tuesday, October 21, 2008.
5. Invocation
Sherry Mashburn, City Clerk, provided the invocation.
6. Pledge of Allegiance
The assembly recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
7. Citizen Comments
Steve Harvey, 228 Camaro Way, came before the Council to speak on Cantober, single stream
recycling and campaign sign recycling. He reported that aluminum cans will be collected during
the month of November, and there will be a Cantober Fest that will focus on recycling education
and the collection of cans for a national contest at Farmer Fred's Fall Carnival. He noted that
single stream recycling is an important opportunity to divert waste from our landfill and will be
another distinguishing positive factor when we market ourselves. He informed Council that
campaign signs can also be dropped off after the election for recycling, along with the wire
holders and wooden stakes. These may all be taken to the Green Guy Wednesday through
Friday following Election Day. This is a great month for recycling awareness. •
Kenneth Dees, 1412 Alamo Street, expressed his disappointment with the new City Manager and
the City Manager's unwillingness to meet with him. He stated that he had sent an email and
received no response. He then read the email to Council. He then reported there are problems
on Ridgewood Street regarding parking and day/night problems with students.
8. Staff Reports
9. City Council Reports
The City Attorney, Michael Cosentino, reported on an Attorney General's opinion regarding the
posting language for Staff Reports and City Council Reports.
CONSENT AGENDA
10.
