Quality Control of Orthophoto Images
The orthoimagery passes through the following quality control process prior to delivery:
File°header check for incorrect or missing information
¦ Visual pan through image at twice the client-specified zoom level to identify:
- Error pixels
- Evident mosaic lines
- Overly bright areas
- Areas of too much shadow
- Excessive building lean
- Warped bridges or overpasses
- Edge match with adjacent sheets must be within a tolerance ratio of 1/40 in relation to
the project scale. (Example: If project scale is 1" = 40' the allowable shift is 40 x 0.025
which equals 1'.)
- Tone and contrast. A tonal difference between adjacent images of >50/o is
unacceptable. If tone discrepancy arises, the affected areas are measured and
compared based on radiometric pixel values.
After passing QC requirements, the ortho images are written to digital media (disk or drive) and
delivered.
