The Executive Session adjourned at 6:50 p.m. on Monday, November 3, 2008. 4. Reconvene and Consider Action on Item Discussed During Executive Session. The San Marcos City Council reconvened into regular session at 6:51 p.m. on Monday, November 3, 2008. No action was required from Executive Session. 5. Invocation Pastor Santiago Heredia, with the El Buen Pastor United Methodist Church, provided the invocation. 6. Pledge of Allegiance The assembly recited the Pledge of Allegiance. 7. Citizen Comments Dianne Wassenich, 11 Tanglewood, stated that she was grateful the Council had arrived at the third reading of the single stream recycling ordinance. This is the mechanism that will allow us to do apartment recycling in the future. She has seen the price of recycling materials drop markedly, and haulers have to pay to have them removed. Having a large company like TDS is the right one to contract with so we won't have a situation where the stuff is discarded. TDS is big enough to absorb the risk. • Steve Harvey, 228 Camaro Way, provided an additional point to his written input. Many companies across the United States have implemented single stream recycling. Proactive education and communication is essential to the success of the project. Sustainable San Marcos would be happy to assist in the education process by delivering informative presentations, etc. Elizabeth Wills, 1002 Delmar, stated that she is in favor of single stream recycling. She reported that she participated in a field trip to TDS and was impressed with the facility. They are a good neighbor and community partner. She is looking forward to single stream recycling and believes it is worth the extra cost. 8. Staff Reports There were no staff reports. 9. City Council Reports There were no City Council reports.
