• RESOLQ1W 2009-13R <br />f . <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO <br />SUPPORT THE HAYS COUNTY, TEXAS APPLICATION FOR <br />FLOOD PROTECTION PLANNING GRANT ASSISTANCE <br />FILED WITH THE TEXAS WATER DEVELOPMENT BOARD. <br />RECITALS: <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of San Marcos, Texas authorizes <br />support of the Hays County application to the Texas Water Development Board for flood <br />protection planning grant assistance. <br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS: <br />PART 1. Hays County, Texas, desires to develop a Flood Protection Planning <br />Study for many of its creeks that drain into the Guadalupe River which include areas <br />within the City of San Marcos; <br />PART 2. Hays County, Texas, ensures that the proposed planning does not <br />duplicate existing projects with the exceptkQn of updating existing flood protection plans; <br />PART 3. City of San Marcos, Texas, will appropriate an amount not to exceed <br />$5,000, of in-kind services, if the grant is awarded, to assist with the financing of the <br />Flood Protection Planning Study; <br />PART 4. Hays County, Texas, will attempt to pursue implementation of viable <br />solutions identified through the proposed planning effort and will pursue and identify <br />potential sources of funding for implementation of viable solutions; <br />PART 5. The cities of Hays County, Texas, are currently participating in the <br />National Flood Insurance Program making flood insurance available for all insurable <br />structures in their respective incorporated and unincorporated areas. <br />ADOPTED this 6th day of January, 2009. <br />Susan Narvaiz <br />Mayor <br />ATTEST: <br />•
