It is classified as General <br />Aviation airport in the NPIAS. New <br />Braunfels has seven published <br />instrument approaches, using NDB, <br />VOR, and GPS navaids. It has a general <br />aviation terminal that serves a large <br />general aviation aircraft base. The <br />airport offers both Jet A and 110LL fuel <br />sales, aircraft rental, flight instruction, <br />and tie-down and hangaring services. <br /> <br />Lockhart: <br />Associated City: Lockhart <br />Distance from HYI: 15 miles <br />Long runway: 4,000 feet <br />Annual operations: 11,680 <br />Based aircraft: 47 <br /> <br />Lockhart Airport IS a GA municipal <br />airport with a single north-south <br />asphalt runway. It serves the general <br />aviation public with 110 LL fuel sales, <br />flight instruction, aircraft rental, tie- <br />down, and published GPS instrument <br />approaches for both runways 18 and 36. <br /> <br />Carter Memorial: <br />Associated City: Luling <br />Distance from HYI: 20 miles <br />Long runway: 2,800 feet <br />Annual operations: 2,080 <br />Based aircraft: 8 <br /> <br />The Carter Memorial Airport has two <br />runways. Runway 17-35 is 2,800 feet <br />and asphalt. Runway 4-22 is turf, 2,000 <br />feet in length, and in poor condition. No <br />fuel is available. There is no regularly <br />attended facility or published <br />instrument approach. <br /> <br />JURISDICTIONAL SETTING <br /> <br />As a city owned public facility the San <br />Marcos Municipal Airport is managed <br />by the City's representative, the Airport <br />Manager. It is the manager's <br />responsibility to secure the facilities for <br />their safe and efficient use. In 1970, <br />the City of San Marcos passed an <br />ordinance amending the City Code to <br />create an Airport Commission. <br /> <br />The San Marcos Airport Commissioners <br />are appointed for two year terms.
