In the year 2000 the <br />average worker earns $23,609 in the <br />Austin-San Marcos MSA, $18,834 in <br />Hays County, and $15,570 in Caldwell <br /> <br />County as compared with the national <br />average of $24,205. <br /> <br />The two counties mirror the rate of <br />growth in the PCPI over the same time <br />period.
