VH ic C ITY OF <br />SAN MAIZCOS <br />THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS CENTRAL TExAS SUSTAINABILITY CONSORTIUM <br />LETTER OF INTENT <br />This letter of intent expresses our support of the Central Texas Sustainability Consortium, led by the <br />Capital Area Council of Governments, Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization, Envision Central <br />Texas, and the cities of Austin, Round Rock and San Marcos, in seeking funds through a Regional <br />Sustainability Planning Grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for the <br />following purposes: <br />Developing an analytical network of tools and models to help the region better plan for <br />sustainable growth and better measure the impact of its development and infrastructure <br />investments; <br />Support the successful development of regional Activity Centers (as defined in the CAMPO 2035 <br />long -range transportation plan) through demonstration projects such as site - specific plans, <br />market studies, code and ordinance enhancements, and other pre - development initiatives; and <br />Improve regional collaboration to identify and help close gaps in existing local plans in ways that <br />will help Central Texas achieve desired region -wide sustainability outcomes in areas such as <br />housing, energy and water use, education and social services in which key decisions are and <br />need to be made at the local level. <br />This letter of intent also expresses our willingness to join the Central Texas Sustainability Consortium at <br />the appropriate time, either before or after the award of a Regional Sustainability Planning Grant. At <br />such time, we intend to execute a memorandum of understanding with other members of the <br />Consortium that clearly defines the scope of our involvement. <br />This letter of intent also expresses our willingness to consider contributing leveraged resources, as <br />available, to support the program of work to be completed by the Consortium. These resources may <br />include direct financial support as well as in --kind contributions of staff time, work or meeting space in <br />our facilities, software and data resources, and other such resources as may be identified by us and by <br />the members of the Consortium upon the development of a complete work plan and financial plan for <br />the program of work.
